How can you understand and not accept it?!<br /><br />Answer: I <i>understand</i> why you<i> </i>believe it but I don't <i>accept</i> your argument as applicable for me.<br /><br />But that seems so wordy. In a heated discussion, I want to move on to the next point rather than argue the same one over and over again. <br /><br />So I tried to say more:<br /><br />Me: Well, if you think about the situation we were having...<br />Friend: If you think that's a problem then why don't we just....<br />Me: But that's not what I was trying to say!<br />Friend: Then what were you <i>trying</i> <i>to say then</i>!?<br /><br />Answer: I was getting there. Just give me two more sentences.<br /><br />Ah, I just have trouble finding the right amount of words to say in order to express my opinion and actually get to my point. This may sound like such an elementary problem to have but I have it and I feel like I'm a five year old whenever it occurs. <br /><br />Aristotle would probably say something like "say the right amount of words to express the right amount of opinion for the right situation in the right reason." Everything is conditional. It's based on who you're talking to, what you're talking about, where you're talking, and how you're talking. Well, isn't that a problem? <br /><br />I hope I find an answer to this in my life time because I really am tired of being misunderstood. I've probably spent two thirds of my life clarifying myself.<br /><br />My quest to find the perfect proportion of words.
